The Westglades Band program is one of the most successful middle school band programs in south Florida. There are four ensembles including Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and the Westglades Marching Wolves.
Beginning Band consist of students who are beginning their first year playing an instrument.
Concert Band is the intermediate ensemble consisting of mostly 7th and 8th graders. This year, the group will be performing at Florida Bandmasters Association's Music Performance Assessment.
Symphonic Band is the advanced performing ensemble, consisting of mostly 7th and 8th graders. Symphonic Band offers high school credit to 8th graders who complete a list of requirements. This group performs at Florida Bandmasters Association's Music Performance Assessment (MPA). The Symphonic Band has consistently earned Superior ratings at MPA.
The Westglades Marching Wolves is the parade marching band. The Westglades Marching Wolves consists of only 7th and 8th graders and is an optional ensemble. The marching band participates in the Coral Springs Holiday Parade every year.
Ms. Claire Bogdan is from Mount Pleasant, a town in Charleston, South Carolina. She began playing the oboe in 6th grade, which fostered her love for music and band. She was the drum major for her high school as well as her college, the University of South Carolina (USC). Claire recently graduated from USC, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and a Performance Certificate in Oboe. In the summers, Ms. Bogdan is a clinician at drum majors at camps in Texas and Indiana. She also teaches private oboe lessons, and hand-makes and sells oboe reeds. Ms. Bogdan is excited for her first year as the Director of Bands at Westglades Middle School!
